stickers on faces, and then some

So it's 11pm and it's been an extremely emotionally exhausting day and I'm currently listening to Keaton Henson's newish album, Birthdays-- which is really probably not a good idea because it's making me feel like I need to go to therapy again. The kind of music that's sad and sweet and anxiety inducing in a really refreshing way, if there is such a kind.

"If you must die, sweetheart, die knowing your life was my life's best part." Oy, the heart strings, they's a tuggin'.

Speaking of sad music, I made an "emo" playlist the other day! Emo, in parenthesis, because I understand that there can often be a joking/exaggerated stigma attached to emo culture, and that original emo music (Cap'n Jazz, I Hate Myself, Sunny Day Real Estate) is distinctly different than what is considered emo today (Say Anything, Taking Back Sunday, Saves The Day, etc) -- which is what my playlist consists of. It'll bring ya back to middle school and your self-loathing roots, trust.

I took a very spontaneous trip to Amoeba Records today by myself, brought on by my angsty, pissed-off teenage self thinking, "FUCK EVERYONE I'M JUST GONNA DISAPPEAR FOR A FEW DAYS AND LIVE OFF OF FOUR DOLLARS AND CIGARETTES FUCK IT," but I'm home now and I guess this is how all of those stories end, right?

On the bright side I came home with a few purchases: Spring Breakers and Glen or Glenda on DVD, and this Sonic Youth tshirt:

I haven't bought a band shirt in a very long time so I'm very excited about this purchase.

The other day some friends and I did a photoshoot themed around the idea of "mystical beings." This consisted of other-wordly makeup, goddess-like dresses, and STICKERS ON FACES: my favorite part... because, stickers on faces.

M y S t I c A l ~

Skirt: Buffalo Exchange ; Dress (underneath): Antique store. I'm actually in love with the full dress, it's length goes down to about the same as the skirt, I'll have a picture next time! But I'm pretty sure the tag said it was a lingerie piece from the 40's-50's, it's super delicate and it's already starting to tear, which makes me weep.

Collar: Etsy. STICKERS on ma face <3 Makeup done by the mega babely Joana, below.

The mastermind behind this photoshoot, Joana, at http://electricalbeing.blogspot.com. Ah, also, observe observe observe her elf-like makeup! So rad.

Tree climbin', shoes shinin'. Someone referred to these sneakers as """unicorn shoes""" from Urban Outfitters.

Both my wide brim hat and hand stickers are from the Dollar Tree! So many cool things there, so proud to say they were only a dollar!

This photoshoot was incredibly fun and I can't wait to do more with these lovely gals in the near future. If you have any suggestions of photoshoot themes for us, then let me know!<3 Deuces <3

what's in my purse + summa outfit

Wow, hi! It has been a quite a while. I've been doing extremely poorly with keeping up consistent blog-posting, and I'm frustrated with myself because of it because I know I like to write so I don't know why I've been so M.I.A recently. I don't want to write too much though because I've made an almost 10-minute video on WHAT'S IN MY PURSE. It sounds ridiculous and it's not something I would normally imagine myself doing, but hell, why not. I can be a YOUTUBE GIRL too, right?

Anyways, please excuse the weird jittery noises my camera makes in the majority of this video, it's just the lens focusing. And excuse my deep voice, I actually really hate it.

Whoooot yay to my first ever (serious blogging sort of) youtube video! I hope you all liked it and could hear through my anxious mumbling. I kind of want to make more videos, considering this one was surprisingly pretty fun, but I'm not sure what I'd do one on so if you have any suggestions, please please please let me know <3

Here's my outfit (on the same day this video was made) that is themed: "Favorite Summer Go-To's," for lack of a better category.

My obsession with lingerie has lingered on for quite a while now. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what draws me to it so much. See-through, lacy garments aren't a BIG THANG nowadays-- so I think it's simply the act of wearing what is socially SUPPOSED to be something worn only during private, intimate, vulnerable moments for a female in public that makes me love lingerie.

Everything I'm wearing here is thrifted!

Gold bone earrings - Internets (Etsy)

Polka dot socks - Forever 21
Shoes - Buffalo Exchange

Here is a photo of the ever sick-ass Miles, as promised:

And check out my cousin, Joana! Here's a photo from her blog of her channeling Mulan:

http://electricalbeing.blogspot.com

I guess that's all for now! But before I go, I just wanted to mention that I've been spending a crazy amount of time lately on the internet doing these two things: 1. Reading random tumblr blogs on feminism/white feminism/racism/GLBTQ community/etc to try and educate myself from a relatable perspective on all of these topics. And 2. Watching beauty guru/fashion youtube videos.

For the first thing, I've only been reading a good two or three blogs and have been searching for something more, I guess, fresh, and inspired so if anyone has some favorite blogs out there tackling any of those topics, please suggest them to me!

And as for the second thing, even though I find myself hypnotized and compelled by all of these videos, I can't help but to feel like they get extremely redundant at some point and that something about making a youtube video for viewers forces some sort of routine in the way these youtubers talk/interact with the camera and it gets sort of creepy at some point.... I guess what I'm asking is, if anyone knows any fashion vloggers on youtube who just hypnotizes them in a way (where it doesn't eventually get creepy, idk) then suggest those to me too!

Okay, that's all, thanks.

don't call me lana del rey.

Guess what, ladies and gents?! My zine is complete! But before I get too riled up about it, I have yet to figure out how my scanner and Mac are going to coexist so I have yet to reveal it online! I will though, soon, I promise.

If you would like a physical copy though, feel free to email me your address and I will gladly send you one! My email is sammjcs@yahoo.com. I only have a limited amount left, so, yeah.

For now, here is a quick wittle outfit post.

Flower crown - Claire's (sorry bout it)
Blouse - Buffalo Exchange
Skirt - Goodwill
Tights - Retro Reload
Shoes - (Steve Madden!) Crossroads

I'm recovering from being really sick last week so please excuse my tired face. I always look tired. I was born tired maybe.  Not to brag about California weather... but... god the weather has been so fucking DIVINE lately. It was 75 degrees today, beautiful beautiful beautiful! I can't wait for the rest of the week. Ah, speaking of the rest of this week, my prom is this Friday! I can't believe it's finally come, it's all so overwhelming and exhilarating simultaneously. I've picked up my ~dream~ prom dress, here's a lil look at it before I get dolled up wearing it.

It's pretty simple at a glance, but I am more than satisfied with the pixie esque look of it. It's such a charming sea green/baby blue hue, all tulle from top to bottom, I'm in love.

Okay, well that's all for now. More updates sooooon. Goodnight all.

sanctuary

My comic is almost complete! Sort of... I hope I'll have it finished in time by Valentine's Day, since it is, you know, a Valentine's themed series. Lately I've been doing a really good job at occupying most of my days with a neverending nothingness. I may be exaggerating greatly, but I feel as if I've been literally lugging my body from place to place just to find myself engaged in vapid, irrelevant things.

Maybe it's just my existential crisis slyly creeping in.. I dunno!

I've got nothing else to say for now, sadly, so here's just pictures of my outfit or whatever.

Everything is from Buffalo Exchange except for the shoes (Crossroads) and bolo tie (internet)

A sick ass Dali shirt I'll never ever get tired of (internet)
It's been getting a lot harder to like myself lately and I don't know why. I always want to lose weight but I don't have the willpower or motivation to make this happen. I look at myself in the mirror for very long periods of time on some days and I just start crying. I am naturally a very emotional person but this has been starting to concern me even further. Oh well. My first psych appointment is this Thursday I believe! We'll see how this goes.

OH and I'm debating on whether I should do a room tour some time soon, please let me know ^_^ In the meantime, here are a few snippets of my room!

Barbies in favor of anarchy.

Fear and Loathing in my bedroom.

Remnants from a trip to San Diego, a fab 17th birthday, a controversial novel, and a drastic haircut. Guess which is which.

Where I lay my head, most nights.

Can you spot my little Lynch?

A skeleton in my closet. Oops.

what r goals

Hello hello hello beautiful creatures of the Internet. The day of the end of the world is inching closer and closer and I cannot wait. It's been such a terrific year, and I can't seem to find the words to describe how truly great 2012 has been to me. God I sound like such a cliche, whatevz.

A song to listen to during this post even though it may not even go along with the things I'm about to talk about:

I'm not going to propose a New Year's Resolution, partially because I'm too disappointed with the turnout of my last one and mostly because I've come to realize that setting goals for myself should really be a daily thing and not something I'm going to become zealous about only when the New Year hits. Right? Right. So right.

BUT a goal that I do plan on achieving within the wee early months of the new year (hopefully) is starting my zine back again! Whoot. Keep a look out for ~ The Maverick ~ Deetz coming soooon....

I've accumulated so much great STUFF recently but I've honestly just been far too lazy to show you guys! I'm sorry I suck. Here's an outfit.

Flower crown - Claires
Crop Top - Buffalo Exchange
Cardigan - Antique Attic
Plaid skirt - Goodwill
- Beetlejuice tights - Retro Reload
Boots - Rose Bowl Flea Market

ssssssssassy

Although it's December, it's hardly been that chilly down here in le S o u t h b a y. So basically I can wear anything I'd wear in the fall except with maybe a coat for the mornings/nights. I still get odd looks for dressing the way I do when I'm at places like school or the mall or you know, the post office, but I keep hoping that one person, in the sea of the conventional that I so often encounter, is thinking to themselves, "Gee this girl's got SPUNK! She wears what she wants!! Fuck yeah! I'm going to start wearing what I want!" Still hoping.

I'm sure by now many people have recognized and become fans of Hanging Rock Comics (http://thisishangingrockcomics.tumblr.com/). I am absolutely IN LOVE with everything Taylor Ruth (creator) draws. It's so refreshing to finally find something that perfectly captures the tortured heart of today's teen-- more specifically-- today's teen girl/feminist/burnout/punkrawker. Anyways, I've been inspired lately by Taylor Ruth's work and I've decided to put together a mini comic series of my own, titled Kicking Back with Cupid. It's going to be based off of my real life encounters/dilemmas with the """love""" department in my life, except, you know, with Cupid (obv a fantasy aspect) helping me out.

More on the story line later! (Yes there is a real story line) Here's a sneak peek <3

Mind you, I am not a talented artist nor am I an avid comic book reader. This is merely something I'm doing """for fun.""" Also my scanner sucks so these pictures are kind of shitty. But nonetheless, hope you're as excited as I am.

honey be reckless

Hi, so my life is a huge unorganized dump right now (not complaining) and I am still being a Lindsay Weir.

Oh, I just turned seventeen-- finally. I actually used to complain a lot about my birthday being late in the year and how I felt the need to catch up to my friends, but now I get a little anxious knowing that I am no longer sixteen, or whatever said age I am at the time. Maybe it's because I've finally realized that in T minus three years, I WILL NO LONGER BE A TEENAGER.

Being a teenager has granted me with a cornucopia of wise life "mantras," epiphanies, and in general, great life experiences that have ~ shaped me to be who I am today. ~

I miss being fifteen. I miss being sixteen. I think I hate being seventeen but then again I tell myself this every year until I turn the next age and complain about how I miss being the latter age.

I threw a wittle birthday party last Saturday for friends and such. It was a blast. I got pretty cross faded and fell asleep with my boyf on the bathroom floor. I held a friend's hair back while she puked. I danced to some Jay Reatard and New Order. It was a fab night and here are some pictures. Oh, and it was goth themed \m/

Am I mollysoda yet?

I'm hilarious
da bb <3
In other news, I've been sort of kind of working on applying for scholarships all day and in a few hours I'll be heading over to la casa de Henry Gerse to watch Jimmy Neutron and blaze and cuddle and stuff. Speaking of cuddling, I think it's appropriate to make a playlist inspired by cuddling-- after all, it is November and we are coming close to the peak of cuddling season.

Let's Cuddle. Oh, there is one song missing that I just could not find on youtube, and that's Honey Be Reckless by Paleo. I recommend you get on Spotify and listen to it anyways because it is a BYOOT! Otherwise, enjoy the rest of my cuddlin' mix!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!! As for me, I'll be staying in on Black Friday fighting my consumer temptations. Morals and values ya'll, morals and values. HA HA HA I am a funny lady, okay goodbye <3
